Job Summary – Paraprofessional:
Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking a dedicated and student-focused Paraprofessional to support academic and behavioral success in the classroom. This role involves working under the guidance of certified teachers and school leadership to enhance the learning environment, promote student engagement, and reinforce classroom instruction.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with classroom teachers to support instructional planning and classroom organization
Assist with maintaining a positive learning environment using the school’s assertive discipline model
Uphold and model school policies, procedures, and behavioral expectations
Support group work and independent learning activities during instruction
Reinforce classroom behaviors such as active listening, attentiveness, task completion, and engagement
Instruct small groups in reading, language, math, writing, and/or spelling, as assigned
Provide targeted support to students needing additional assistance
Assist in grading, recording, and reviewing student work at the teacher’s request
Monitor incomplete assignments and help students with corrections or clarifications
Administer checkouts or retests as directed
Participate in assigned morning, lunch/recess, and afternoon duties
Attend “Back to School Night” and other required after-school events
Support other responsibilities as directed by the Leadership Team
Attend and actively participate in all school-provided professional development training
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to identify issues, gather data, and draw valid conclusions
Knowledge of school policies, educational requirements, and applicable laws
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment
Strong interpersonal skills and a student-centered mindset
Must successfully complete any applicable MTEL exams within one year of employment
U.S. work authorization required
This is a full-time, annually appointed position subject to yearly performance review.
