Position Summary
The Director of Facilities and Maintenance is responsible for the staff and resources needed to maintain property, facilities, and grounds to ensure member safety and satisfaction at the Malden YMCA and program locations in Medford and Everett. This position oversees all day-to-day aspects of facility and equipment maintenance, housekeeping, and grounds maintenance. The Director will provide repair services as required to keep the facilities safe and functioning properly for members and staff. This role is critical to ensure the YMCA meets the challenge of being a mission-driven, value-based, community-minded service organization.
Qualifications
- Three or more years of experience in facility management or a closely related field.
- Two or more years of supervisory experience in a facilities or maintenance setting.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas.
- Budget management and project management skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills helpful.
- Current, active driver's license with a driving record that meets YMCA standards.
- Ability to respond promptly and effectively to safety and emergency situations.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification within 180 days of employment.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required within 90 days of employment.
Essential Functions
- Provides overall coordination and implementation of maintenance, including planning and developing preventative maintenance programs and annual improvement plans for the Malden YMCA and program off-sites.
- Responsible for hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of all employed and contracted cleaning staff at the Malden YMCA and program sites.
- Actively place the mission of the Mystic Valley YMCA into action by fostering positive and productive relationships with staff and members.
- Participates in annual campaign support, Association initiatives, and other leadership responsibilities as assigned.
- Directly leads and supervises maintenance staff, including recruitment, hiring, training, and performance evaluations for full-time and/or part-time staff.
- Ensure custodial staff are trained in all safety practices and OSHA standards.
- Establish and train users in a maintenance work order system to ensure the timely completion of work orders.
- Ensure all contract cleaners are equipped with appropriate tools and trained in chemical use, systems operations, and OSHA standards.
- Manage all facilities cleaning schedules, repair and improvement work, and proactively coordinates maintenance for equipment and facility areas.
- Maintain and updates all safety data sheets in all Mystic Valley YMCA facilities,
- Works closely with the Aquatics Director to complete all pool maintenance tasks, including chemical balance, backwashing. Responsible for mechanical system operations including pumps and boilers.
- Complete repair work and projects in a timely manner and communicates delays and adjusted timeframes to department directors.
- Conduct regular walk-throughs for cleanliness, safety, maintenance, and risk management.
- Oversee all contractors on facility and grounds projects, participates in bid processes, and ensures proper contractor background checks.
- Work with fire, health, and building departments to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Advise management on maintenance issues, facility needs, and strategic project planning.
- Assist in developing a capital projects plan aligned with the YMCA's strategic goals and community needs.
- Order and maintain inventory of supplies according to YMCA policies.
- Ensure all seasonal landscaping and snow removal is completed timely.
- Attend and participate in assigned branch and YMCA association committees.
- Maintain 24/7 availability to respond to maintenance emergencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO.

Salary : $75,000 - $80,000
