What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kid Zone- Afternoon/Evening Shift position at MYSTIC VALLEY YOUNG MENS CHRISTIAN ASSOC?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction and supervision of the Kid Zone Coordinator, staff are responsible for supervising and engaging children in the Kid Zone program. Staff ensure a safe, fun, and nurturing environment while providing attentive care and support during program hours. All employees are expected to demonstrate the Mystic Valley YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in their interactions with children, parents, and colleagues.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Actively supervises children in the Kid Zone program, maintaining a safe and engaging environment at all times.
- Provides attentive care, ensuring the well-being of all children.
- Facilitates positive play and encourages exploration and interaction among children.
- Supports the daily operation of the Kid Zone program in alignment with Mystic Valley YMCA policies.
- Maintains the Kid Zone schedule as directed by the Coordinator or Supervisor.
- Practices basic safety and health procedures, including infection control and proper hand washing.
- Completes required documentation, such as accident reports and maintenance requests, promptly and accurately.
- Maintains accurate attendance records, including sign-in and sign-out logs.
- Upholds the YMCA’s child protection policies, including proper reporting of child abuse and neglect.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude toward children and their families, fostering a welcoming environment.
- Maintains confidentiality and treats all families with dignity and respect.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- A high school diploma or general educational development certificate preferred
- 1-3 years of working with children
- Must have or obtain Adult and Pediatric CPR, AED and First Aid
- Must have or obtain YMCA Safety trainings
