Material Handler

Job Title: Material Handler I
Location: Colorado Springs, CO 80915
Duration: 6 Months Contract
Shift: 1st Shift | Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Overtime: Available as needed
Safety-Sensitive Role: Yes (10-Panel Drug Test required)

Position Summary:

The Material Handler is responsible for the movement, storage, and tracking of materials throughout the facility. This includes handling incoming and outgoing shipments, stocking materials, and supporting production operations while adhering to all safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Follow all safety and quality procedures consistently.
• Read and interpret production schedules, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine materials to be moved or distributed.
• Transport materials between receiving, storage, and production areas using forklifts and other material handling equipment.
• Organize and store materials according to size, type, and product code.
• Pick and fulfill orders accurately for internal and customer use.
• Load/unload trucks with both palletized and non-palletized goods.
• Open containers and verify contents.
• Label materials with appropriate identification information.
• Use computers to record inventory movements and maintain stock levels.
• Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping duties to maintain a safe work environment.
• Assist team members and respond to internal and external customer needs as required.

Requirements:Education:

• High school diploma or GED required.

Experience:

• 1–3 years of material handling or warehouse experience required.
• 1–2 years of forklift operation experience required.
• Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS) preferred.
• Stable work history with demonstrated commitment is strongly preferred.

Skills:

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills and ability to input data.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, hear, and see regularly.
• Frequent lifting/carrying of up to 30 lbs; occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.
• Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs.
• May work indoors/outdoors, with potential exposure to temperature extremes (0°F to 120°F), noise, dust, and concrete surfaces.
• Must be able to use computers and communicate via telephone.

• This is a safety-sensitive position. Candidates must pass a 10-panel drug test.
• Only candidates with stable work history and a strong commitment to reliability and performance will be considered.
• High potential for conversion to a full-time role based on performance.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
