What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Science Intern position at N.F. Smith & Associates, L.P.?

Since our founding in 1984, Smith has grown exponentially to source, inspect and distribute electronic components for an array of industries (automotive, solar, medical devices, oil and gas, etc) as well as provide supply chain solutions such as counterfeit testing, vendor inventory management and sustainable hardware disposition. Internships are Monday through Friday for 40 hours a week. Our Data Science Intern is given the opportunity to collaborate with forward thinkers to present data in new, concise and exciting ways. Exposure won't be limited to the Houston office, or limited to one department, as our team extracts data from around the globe to keep us competitive in the semiconductor industry.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside machine learning experts, technologists, product managers and other informatic analysts to solve complex business problems
- Identify data to collect and devise a method of extraction for this information alongside technologists to transform raw data into business insights
- Explore data visualization and summarization techniques to convey key findings related to applied analytics
- Adhere to best practices for capturing design notes, deliverables, methodologies and solution development activities for traceability and troubleshooting purposes
- Draw on classroom experience to contribute out of the box thinking recommendations
Qualifications
Location : Fully in office - 5306 Hollister Street, Houston TX 77040
Dates : Monday, June 2nd to Friday, August 8th (10 weeks)
