Job Overview:
This position is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations in a specific area of the manufacturing plant. MFG Team Leads have advanced knowledge of at least one manufacturing specialty, such as wood, metal, wire, or upholstery, to provide direction to associates on assigned tasks and procedures. MFG Team Leads provide training to associates in their assigned area as needed, as well as address associate questions or concerns. MFG Team Leads work with management to determine production priorities, assign work to associates, and track the progress of production goals. MFG Team Leads complete manufacturing tasks as needed, as well as check the quality of work in their area. MFG Team Leads may be required to use Microsoft Outlook to communicate with other departments. MFG Team Leads must be able to operate a forklift to move products in/out of their assigned area as needed. MFG Team Leads work primarily with the Plant Manager but may also work with other departments, such as purchasing and engineering. MFG Team Leads may perform other tasks as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee manufacturing operations in an assigned area
- Provide direction to associates on assigned tasks and procedures
- Complete manufacturing tasks as needed
- Collaborate with management on production priorities and goals
- Assist with associate questions or concerns
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace/shop
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Experience: 3 - 5 years related experience and/or training
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Additional training in machining, metalworking, or related fields is a plus
Other Skills and Abilities
- Intermediate computer skills; ability to use Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Knowledge of inventory management and order entry systems, such as SyteLine and Factory Track
- Advanced knowledge of shop machinery and proper manufacturing techniques
- Advanced knowledge of proper quality control procedures
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Mechanically inclined; ability to work with basic hand and power tools
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately to 1/16th of an inch
- Ability to add and subtract fractions
- Communicates well with others; asks for and offers help when needed
- Detail oriented; meets quality standards and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
- Organized; completes work in a timely manner; able to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Problem-solver; gathers and analyzes information skillfully and generates suggestions for improving work

Work Environment and Physical Demand:
- Manufacturing Environment – may cause exposure to heat, noise, vibration, odors, dust or moving
mechanical parts - Medium to Heavy Work – exerting up to 75 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 35 lbs. of force frequently,
and/or up to 15 lbs. of force constantly to move objects - Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel materials and equipment
