Job Title: Central Lab Histology Manager

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Histology Manager to lead our central laboratory operations. The ideal candidate will oversee the day-to-day laboratory functions, ensuring high-quality service, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. This role requires strong leadership capabilities to manage both technical and non-technical staff while supporting the entire division’s histology services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily laboratory operations, including technical and administrative oversight.
- Develop and implement staff hiring, orientation, competency assessments, and ongoing training programs.
- Provide continuous performance feedback, coaching, and professional development opportunities for staff.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, FDA, and CMS.
- Collaborate with the department’s medical director to establish and maintain policies, quality metrics, and operational goals.
- Monitor department resources, identify areas for improvement, and implement cost-control strategies.
- Lead quality assurance initiatives, ensuring test accuracy, proper equipment maintenance, and process efficiency.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring financial targets and operational goals are met.
- Oversee implementation of new methodologies, equipment, and technologies to enhance lab performance.
- Facilitate communication between laboratory staff, healthcare professionals, and external partners.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement programs and ensure effective workflow management.
- Act as a resource and advocate for histology services, ensuring optimal patient care and laboratory efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Histotechnology, Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Biomedical Sciences, Biology, or Chemistry required; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Experience: 3-5 years of supervisory experience in histology (hospital or central lab setting preferred).
- Certification: National Certification as a Medical or Histology Technologist required.
- Skills: Strong leadership, multitasking, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
- Additional Requirements: Some travel within the division may be required.
