Location: Charlotte, NC

Schedule: 1:00 AM – 9:30 AM, Tuesday – Saturday

Sign-On Bonus: $5,000

Relocation Assistance: $4,000

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Histo Technologist Supervisor to oversee the technical operations of our histology laboratory section during the early morning shift (1:00 AM – 9:30 AM, Tuesday – Saturday). In this leadership role, you will ensure that all laboratory procedures are performed according to established policies, maintain a high standard of quality, efficiency, and safety, and supervise a team of histotechnicians and other laboratory personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and manage the technical operations and performance of the histology section, ensuring compliance with all laboratory policies and CAP standards.
• Lead and coordinate the daily activities of histotechnicians and laboratory staff to ensure high-quality and timely results.
• Provide support to the Lab Director/Manager, assisting with operational decisions and addressing any issues that may arise.
• Communicate effectively with leadership regarding section performance, test development, team actions, and any unusual occurrences that may require attention.
• Take initiative in resolving issues, ensuring the accuracy of test methods and instruments, and maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols.
• Review laboratory reports, including reference lab reports, for extraordinary results and clerical errors before they are finalized in the medical record.
• Manage the section’s inventory, ensuring an adequate supply of materials, and participate in cost analysis for existing and potential tests.
• Lead staff orientation, training, and performance evaluations, providing mentorship and fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Assign work schedules, manage workload evaluations, and ensure timely completion of all tasks assigned to section personnel.
• Assist as a bench technologist when necessary to support the workload during busy periods.

Skills and Requirements:

• Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histotechnician (HT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a histology laboratory is required, with leadership experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment with biohazardous and chemical materials.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to mentor and provide leadership to a team while fostering a collaborative work environment.
