Job Title: Histology Technologist
Location: Richmond, VA 23236
MUST BE A CERTIFIED TECHNOLOGIST FOR THIS ROLE
Schedule Full-time • Nights (No Weekends)
Job Summary
- Perform histology and cytology procedures, including specimen processing/fixation, cell block preparation, embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, routine stains, IHC and special stains, and case organization in accordance with department procedures.
- Assure positive sample, block and slide identification
- Prepares and maintains reagents for routine stains and histology procedures.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and instrumentation per manufacturer & department procedures and per department schedule.
- Adhere to department policy with regards to performance and documentation of quality control and quality assurance for instrumentation, equipment and procedures performed.
- Utilize independent judgement and problem-solving skills to ensure the accuracy of procedures performed and proper equipment performance. Troubleshoots to and takes appropriate corrective action to resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely manner for resolution.
- Adhere to department policy with regards to performance and documentation of quality control and quality assurance for instrumentation, equipment and procedures performed.
Job Qualifications:
- A 4-Year/Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology
More than one year of experience in Histology; 1-3 years of experience in a high volume histology setting is required.
