About the Role:
We're looking for a skilled Cloud Architect with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure to join the State of Michigan's CEPI team. In this role, you'll be the technical expert responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based applications and infrastructure. You'll ensure our systems meet business needs, are secure, and follow industry best practices. This is a hybrid position, requiring you to work onsite in Lansing, MI, two days a week (Wednesdays and Thursdays).
What You'll Do:
- Design and Implement Azure Solutions: Create and manage cloud architectures on Microsoft Azure, including Function Apps and other Azure services.
- Lead Cloud Modernization: Drive the migration to a service-based architecture and modernize our IT systems.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Automate infrastructure deployment and management using tools like Terraform or ARM templates.
- Ensure System Integration: Integrate cloud infrastructure with existing systems, including COTS packages, SaaS, and other government applications.
- Provide Technical Leadership: Guide application development staff, promoting best practices in usability, security, and maintainability.
- Conduct Architectural Reviews: Evaluate and improve application designs across the organization.
- Develop and Maintain Documentation: Create clear and concise documentation for architectural designs and procedures.
- Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Quickly address and resolve complex technical problems.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with program managers, developers, and other technical teams.
What You'll Need:
- 5 years of experience as a Cloud Architect or in a similar role.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Azure and its services.
- Strong understanding of cloud application development architectures, frameworks, and tools.
- Proven experience in writing and implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Experience designing and maintaining microservices architectures.
- Proficiency in .NET, HTML, XML, SQL, PowerShell, SOAP, and REST APIs.
- Knowledge of web-based and client-server systems architecture.
- Experience with database management and relational database concepts.
- Familiarity with secure coding and authorization concepts.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft VISIO and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Understanding of telecommunication concepts.
Important Details:
- Hybrid Schedule: You'll work onsite in Lansing, MI, every Wednesday and Thursday.
- Local Candidates Preferred: We strongly prefer candidates who are local or willing to relocate to Lansing, MI, at their own expense.
- Interview Process: The initial interview will be conducted virtually via MS Teams video. Second-round interviews may be in person.
- State Government Experience: Experience working with government agencies is a plus.
