Job Summary
Galapagos Federal Systems LLC seeks a highly motivated and qualified Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to support United States Space Force (USSF) operations. This position offers an opportunity to work alongside a dynamic team dedicated to mission success, collaborating with key partners, including Combatant Commands and other military branches.
As an ISSO, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the security and integrity of automated information systems (AIS), system data, and other critical resources. You will guide and assist in applying IT security controls to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of these systems. Your solutions must align with system and network configurations and be approved by configuration managers.
ISSO Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Risk Management Framework (RMF) approval process, ensuring compliance with DoD security policies.
- Oversee system sustainment and lifecycle management, including continuous monitoring, change processes, and maintenance approvals.
- Work closely with Certified Defense Contractors to ensure compliance with security requirements and best practices.
- Maintain organizational networks, including account management, auditing, vulnerability scanning, and other ISSO-related duties.
- Serve as a cybersecurity subject matter expert (SME) and trusted advisor to civilian and military personnel, as well as senior leadership.
- Support and facilitate government inspections and audits, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
Compensation Minimum: $160,000
Compensation Maximum: $175,000
Job Requirements:
Skills / Experience Required
ISSO Skills & Experience Required:
- ISSO that holds and maintains a current TS/SCI Clearance; willing to consent to and successfully complete a Government Counterintelligence Scope Polygraph
- 10 years of relevant experience with the Department of Defense
- 4 years of experience in DoD Security Operations in SCI/SAP environment and worked in this environment within the last five years
- Experience with Classified Automated Information Systems (AIS), SIPR, JWICS, and SGN [preferred]) and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) activities, e.g. circuit processing, connection approval processes, etc.
- Experience with network management
- Multi-Level Security (MLS) implementations within LAN/WAN architectures, Evaluation of DoD network architectures designed under NIST 800-53 requirements, and communication security (COMSEC) management
Education / Certifications
- Master of Arts/Master of Science/Master of Engineering in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, MIS, or related degree
- Relevant work experience/training certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Minimum 1 year of experience using Risk Management Framework (RMF) IT security controls and policies
- Minimum DoD 8140/DoD 8570 IASAE Level II Certification

Security Clearance
Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner and that may include lifting to thirty pounds, as necessary.
