What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Planning Manager - Magnolia, TX position at Nabors Industries?
This role is responsible for managing all facets of planning and scheduling including master planning for all product lines, inventory analysis and availability determination based on demand, and tracking the manufacturing status to quickly identify and collaborate with internal functional groups to resolve barriers and issues which arise and are impacting product on time delivery. This role is responsible for tracking and managing manufacturing WIP as it relates to open work orders, and driving existing inventory usage to improve inventory turns. The person in the Planning Manager role is ultimately responsible along with Project Management for coordination of shop support needs with Sales/Commercial teams, Engineering, Procurement, Warehouse, Quality and Supply Chain departments.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in production planning required
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory or management experience required
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, engineering drawings, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS
General knowledge of word processing software, excellent spreadsheet software skills, E-Mail messaging, and manufacturing/inventory software.

- Develop and manage production plans in coordination with production management to meet business goals and customer requirements.
- Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components.
- Monitor and adjust production schedules in response to demand changes, supply chain disruptions, or operational issues.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Mfg Engineering, Production, Quality, Warehouse, Product Line Manager and operations teams to improve manufacturing processes and efficiency.
- Ensure that clear direction is provided to your team and that appropriate documentation is available to support shop production plans.
- Collaborating with Procurement, ensure accurate material/inventory levels are on hand to enable the demands of the production schedules to be met and work to mitigate risks affecting production schedules and capacity.
- Participate in the S&OP process with responsibility to collaborate with the PLM in identifying accurate forecasting from Sales and being one of the gate-keepers to maintain integrity in the Forecasting and Master Planning process.
- Implement and maintain production planning systems, tools, and best practices.
- Generate, review, manage and communicate information from reports to expedite upcoming or late demands.
- Analyze relevant operations data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement; Ex: On-time delivery, WIP, etc.
- Manage and mentor a team of production planners and schedulers.
- Comply with and participate in company quality and safety programs and initiatives.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises 3- 5 Planners, Inventory Control, and cycle count carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
