Position: Electrical Technician
Reports To: Electrical Engineer
Classification: Non-Exempt
Summary
Electrical Technician – is an entry level technical role that supports with the design team preparing bid document plans. Performs non-routine and complex assignments under direct supervision. Works closely within the intended design vision and Project Managers to define and implement CADD applications for a given project. Under moderate supervision will assist to develops, modify, and/or review drawings according to established department standards. Collaborates with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
Requirements
Essential Functions:
- Under direct supervision, performs accurate interpretation of given Redlines and implementation into Revit software utilizing the MEP electrical tools
- Under moderate supervision, follows project set-up, backup, and archive protocols
- Under direct supervision, assists in preparation of bid document plans including power, lighting, system plans, one-line and riser diagrams, schedules, and electrical details
- Under direct supervision, assists with the creation of construction documents consisting of primarily of drawings based on written and verbal direction from other more senior staff
- Under direct supervision, reviews drawings according to established standards
- Under direct supervision, develop, create, and manage Revit families and templates
- Must have a working knowledge of general building construction terms and standards
- Must be able to visualize 3D construction and installation processes
- Participate in groups large and small to evaluate efficiency and corrective action reporting to improve workflow and productivity
Competencies:
- This position operates in a professional office environment which uses standard office equipment such as desktop computers, laptops, phones, photocopiers, large format plotter/scanners, virtual meetings, and virtual technology.
- Intermediate proficiency in AutoCAD required
- Basic proficiency in Bluebeam required
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Suite required
- Intermediate proficiency in Revit documentation required such as: Measuring, Views and Sheets, Detailing, Dimensions and Rules, Exporting/Importing Data, Keynotes and Annotations, Scheduling and Coordination and Orientation
- Basic Element Creation
- Basic working knowledge of National CAD Standards including National BIMs Standards.
- Basic knowledge of the design and construction process
- Must apply sound understanding and judgement to visual, verbal, or written instructions
- Ability to meet schedule deadlines
- Excellent organizational skills

- May offer guidance for project associates or interns as needed
Work Environment
- This position operates in a professional open office environment with low to moderate noise levels including collaborative work areas for team meetings. Each office location has a workstation for scanning/ photocopying and a cafe for dining. Building construction sites may include varying temperatures, wind, dust, and noise levels and may include hazardous and dirty conditions.
Physical Demands
- Hand/Wrist/Finger dexterity for 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week
- Ability to lift a set of construction documents
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
Position/Hours expected to work
- This is a full-time position with the expectation of working a minimum of 40 hours per week
Travel
- Rare amount of travel
Required Education and Experience
- High School or equivalent diploma
- Associate Degree in Applied Science-CAD Electrical Design /Drafting or a technical Certificate in Electrical Drafting is required
- No experience is necessary for entry level
