Are you passionate about politics and eager to start a career in government? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join the team at the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) and take the first step into the dynamic world of legislative affairs!

As a Staff Assistant, you’ll be an integral part of our Capitol Hill office, supporting both administrative and legislative efforts. This is an ideal role for someone who is looking to gain hands-on experience in government affairs while contributing to the day-to-day operations of a trade association.

The key responsibilities of the Staff Assistant:

  • Manage front-desk duties, answer calls, greet visitors, and handle email correspondence. You’ll represent the office in every interaction with professionalism and poise.
  • Assist in scheduling congressional meetings, organizing internal events, and preparing legislative materials for Academy classes.
  • Assist with planning legislative committee meetings and ensuring all logistics, including catering, materials, and technology, run smoothly.
  • Develop a solid understanding of policy priorities, assist with research, and track legislative issues under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Help manage the office calendar, update legislative packets, order supplies, and maintain smooth office operations.
  • Provide administrative support to the Senior Vice President and Vice President and help with various tasks as needed.

Required Job Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in political science, Public Policy, Government, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience, with a passion for legislation, policy, and politics.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills—you’ll interact with stakeholders including Congressional staff, internal teams, and association members.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • A professional demeanor with a proactive attitude and a passion for supporting legislative work.
