JOB SUMMARY
The Student Support Specialist will provide district-wide support in the organization and implementation of interventions, English Learner (EL) support, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), curriculum implementation, and professional development. This position will play a key role in analyzing data, assisting with differentiated instruction, and ensuring that evidence-based strategies are effectively implemented to support student success across all schools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Organization and Implementation of Interventions
- Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of academic and behavioral interventions across all grade levels.
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to ensure students receive targeted, data-driven interventions.
- Provide training and coaching for staff in implementing Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention strategies.
2. English Learner (EL) Support
- Work with EL teachers and general education staff to support language acquisition strategies.
- Ensure EL standards are integrated into daily instruction.
- Assist with organizing EL services, assessments and daily tracking.
3. Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
- Support the implementation of MTSS across the district, ensuring alignment with best practices.
- Assist in identifying students needing additional support and ensure appropriate interventions are provided.
- Train and collaborate with staff to ensure fidelity of interventions and progress monitoring.
4. Tiers of Instruction & Differentiation
- Support teachers in implementing Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 instruction effectively.
- Assist in adapting instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Work with school teams to ensure differentiation strategies are applied consistently in all classsrooms.
5. Data Collection and Analysis
- Collect, monitor and analyze student performance data to drive instrucational decisions.
- Support teachers and interventionists in using data to refine instruction and interventions.
- Assist in maintaining district-wide data tracking systems for interventions, EL progress, and MTSS implementation.
6. Implementation of Curriculum
- Assist in the rollout and fidelity of district-adopted curriculum across all subjects.
- Provide support in curriculum alignment with state standards and district goals.
- Work with teachers to enhance instructional practices and ensure curriculum effectiveness.
7. Professional Development & Coaching
- Design and deliver professional development sessions on instructional strategies, intervention techniques and data-driven decision-making.
- Provide coaching and modeling of best practices for teachers and support staff.
- Assist in mentoring new teachers in instructional best practices and district expectations.
8. Other Duties as Assigned
- Collaborate with school leaders, instructional coaches, and district administrators to support student success.
- Participate in district and school-based meetings related to interventions, MTSS, and student progress.
- Support family and community engagement efforts related to student success and intervention programs.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Three (3) years of experience in education, intervention or student support roles.
- Arizona Teaching Certificate, preferred.
- Strong knowledge of MTSS, intervention strategies, EL support and data-driven instruction.
- Experience with data collection, analysis and instructional decision-making.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff and families across diverse backgrounds.
