The Surface Mount Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting surface mount technology (SMT) machinery. This role involves working in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment to ensure the efficient assembly of electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs) using SMT techniques. The technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the high-quality and timely production of electronic products.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate Manncorp SMT machines, such as pick-and-place machines, stencil printers, reflow ovens, and automated optical inspection (AOI) systems. Follow established procedures and work instructions to achieve accurate and efficient assembly processes.
- Create and optimize machine programs for Manncorp equipment to ensure precise component placement and soldering. Adjust machine settings as needed to accommodate specific PCB designs and component requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections of assembled PCBs to verify that components are accurately placed and soldered. Identify and rectify any defects or discrepancies in the production process. Implement quality control measures to uphold product quality standards.
- Assist in routine maintenance tasks on Manncorp equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns. Identify and troubleshoot issues promptly to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency.
- Handle electronic components, solder, and PCBs with care to prevent damage and maintain product integrity. Properly store and organize materials to ensure a smooth production workflow.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to suggest process improvements and implement best practices. Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency enhancements in the SMT assembly process using Manncorp equipment.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols while operating Manncorp machinery. Promote a safe working environment and report any safety concerns promptly.
- Provide training and guidance to other technicians and operators on the proper operation and maintenance of Manncorp SMT equipment. Foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the team.
Preferred Experience:
- Proven experience in operating and maintaining Manncorp SMT equipment is highly desirable.
- High school diploma or equivalent education. Additional technical certifications or vocational training in electronics assembly and SMT technology are preferred.
- Familiarity with SMT assembly processes, IPC standards, and ESD precautions.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting PCB assembly drawings and documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with precision in a fast-paced environment.
- Good problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve equipment and process issues.
- Excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to adapt to changing production demands and work effectively under pressure.
- Prior experience with Manncorp software and programming languages used in their equipment is a plus.
