The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization with a mission to promote high-quality early learning for each and every child, birth through age 8, by connecting practice, policy, and research.
NAEYC is currently seeking an Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist who will play a crucial role in receiving, reviewing, and applying payments from customers and assisting with collections work. This position reports to the Senior Accountant, AR and is expected to physically be in the DC office at least one day a week, in compliance with the company's Hybrid work policy. This is a key position requiring a Specialist who is attentive to details, prompt with follow up, and proactively works to resolve issues.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews and applies incoming payments to customer accounts
- Updates and maintains Cash Receipts and Lockbox Reports
- Researches and reconciles unapplied payments
- Assists with the research and cleanup of unapplied payments
- Generate monthly AR Aging report from Association Management Software
- Perform collections outreach for all delinquent invoices
- Works closely with the various NAEYC departments to ensure appropriate invoicing
- Support manual invoicing when necessary
- Carefully completes vendor onboarding forms (where NAEYC is the vendor) for new customers
- Thoughtfully researches and responds to internal and external inquiries regarding Accounts Receivable matters
- Manages the AR email inbox
- Manages AR inquiries received through NAEYC's help desk
- Assists with month end close tasks, as assigned by the Senior Accountant
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1 - 3 years of experience working in an accounting and/or finance role
- Prior experience working in Accounts Receivable preferred
- Experience with Sage Intacct, Salesforce, and/or Fonteva preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft platforms including Excel, Outlook, and Teams, including experience with advanced formula functions of Excel
- Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, listening
- Self-motivated and proactive; anticipates needs and takes actions
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and balance priorities
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Customer Service oriented with a desire to research and resolve problems
- Curious, eager to learn and grow; asks lots of questions to improve understanding

Position Designation(s): Hybrid: This role is based in the DC Metro Region and is required to physically be on-site in the DC office one day a week due to the needs of the position. Employees are expected to be in the office on Thursday's unless otherwise determined by immediate supervisor and department leadership.

Salary : $46,400 - $58,000
