NAFI Rhode Island is exploring candidates for a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Youth Counselor. This role involves working with teenage boys who are aging out of the system, helping them develop the skills necessary for independent living.
Responsibilities Include:
- Teach and mentor teenage boys in various independent
living skills, including cooking, budgeting, job searching, and personal hygiene - Facilitating problem-solving among residents and nurturing peer relationships
- Organizing and orchestrating special activities and projects tailored for the youth
- Provide support and guidance to help participants achieve their goals
- Maintain accurate records of participant progress and activities
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a supportive and cohesive environment
- Actively participating in scheduled staff meetings
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of young people.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and inviting environment

Qualifications/Skills:
- All candidates must successfully clear DCYF, Driving Record, and Rhode Island State background checks
- Must possess a valid driver license
- Computer Skills
- Must be able to transport clients as needed
- Residential overnight experience a plus but not required
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Work independently and as part of a team
