This position is primarily engaged in teaching, research and service.

Required Qualifications: The candidate must hold, the doctorate (or recognized terminal degree) from an acceptable accredited institution in the field of specialization or closely related discipline at the time of hire. Must have developing program of scholarly research, experience in teaching, or professional work of high caliber, and willingness to participates in University related service duties at least at the departmental level.

General Description/Primary Purpose

The Department of Political Science and Public Administration is seeking a 9-month, tenure-earning Assistant Professor of International Relations and/or Comparative Politics. This position will report to Dr. Nicholas Seabrook, Chair, Department of Political Science and Public Administration. Position responsibilities include a 2/2 teaching load, research/scholarship, and service.

Anticipated Start Date: The position is expected to begin on August 4, 2025.

About the Department: The Department of Political Science and Public Administration offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Political Science (BA), Public Administration (MPA), and International Affairs (MAIA), as well as minors in Political Science, Public Administration, and Political Campaigns. The department includes the Public Opinion Research Laboratory (PORL), a highly ranked full-service survey research facility, as well as the Public Service Leadership Program (PSLP), and the Pre-Law Program.

Preferred Qualifications / Skills

A Ph.D. in Political Science, Government, or a related discipline is required by August 2025.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching introductory and advanced courses in international relations and comparative politics. Expertise in a specific region (preferably Latin America or Asia) is desirable. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to our M.A. program in International Affairs, have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, and possess an active research agenda.
