LEEP Dual Language Academy Charter School serves students in grades K-5. At LEEP our educators use effective instructional techniques to provide a high-quality dual language program, located in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Our mission is to provide an inclusive and academically rigorous dual language education that empowers students to become bilingual, bicultural, and bi-literate.

About The Role
The Director of Student Services leads the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS). The DSS initiates and assists when directed by the principal with the oversight of the instructional program to ensure a school climate that fosters the educational development of each student. The DSS is effective in multiple roles and will be directly accountable to the Principal for the advancement of the school's mission as measured by the school's academic success and maintenance of a rigorous school culture. The Director of Student Services oversees the school-wide approach to Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 for behaviors and academic performance (RTB and RTI), as well as the Sped Department. The Director of Student Services does not back down from professional and personal challenges - going above and beyond to ensure that all aspects of the LEEP Academy model are implemented with fidelity, excellence, and joy. The Director of Student Services will actively seek feedback, solicit input, and engage in courageous conversations in order to better themselves and others.
Position Responsibilities
- Circulates throughout the school during the day and is a visible presence in the school for staff, students, and families.
- Oversees the implementation of Responsive Classroom.
- Responsible for supervision and development of the MTSS team.
- Oversees the development and implementation of RTB (Response to Behavior).
- Oversees the discipline and follows up with families & teachers regarding discipline issues.
- Is in charge of monitoring student attendance and ensuring timely intervention for students who have attendance difficulties.
- In collaboration with the principal leads the creation of school wide systems & routines.
- Leads school culture initiatives that promote a sense of belonging and are aligned with LEEP’s core virtues and mission statement.
- Provides leadership to all staff and scholars in establishing a positive, structured, achievement-oriented, and joyful school climate and culture.
- Fosters and supports consistency in academic and behavioral expectations in and out of class and in and out of the school; and helps to ensure traditions and rituals that support the school's mission are being created, maintained, and enhanced grade by grade and year to year;
- Provides leadership to all staff and scholars in establishing a positive, structured, achievement-oriented, and joyful school climate and culture.
- Collaborates with school staff to maximize the ability of the school to support scholars' academic and social-emotional development.
- Attends and facilitates monthly Saturday Family Workshops (as designated by the principal) and other school community events (please note that some of these occur outside contracted work hours).
- Communicates regularly with families regarding student performance, academic achievement, and discipline.
- Works with the Principal to develop schedules; school-wide initiatives, and strategic planning.
- Assists school staff in promoting school safety and supporting safety drills for fire, lockdown, etc.
- Acts in a supportive role with the Principal in working with parents, teachers, and the community to promote the effective flow of communications and ensure positive relations with parents, staff, and community members
- Assists the Principal to implement a cohesive, clear vision and ensure the school meets its mission and academic goals;
- Oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of MTSS programs and services for students at LEEP, including special education, health services, and counseling.
- In collaboration with the school principal, develops and implements policies and procedures related to student services that comply with state and federal laws and regulations.
- Provides guidance and support to administrators, teachers, and staff regarding student services issues, including the development of individual education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
- Collaborates with principal, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure that all students receive appropriate and effective services and support.
- Monitors and analyzes data related to effective teaching strategies and student services to identify trends, make informed decisions, and evaluate program effectiveness.
- Provides leadership and professional development to staff related to student services, including training on best practices and effective strategies for meeting the needs of diverse learners.

The starting compensation for this role is between $115,000 to $130,000.00 per year. The starting salary will depend on multiple factors including professional experience, education, and certifications. This role is a full-time position.
