Description
Position Title: Program and Financial Specialist
Department: Smith Center for Global Engagement
Reports To: Director, Smith Center for Global Engagement
Classification: Non-Exempt Grade F FTE: 1.0
Salary: $24.75-$25.50
Essential Job Duties
Manage faculty-led program development and implementation
- Work collaboratively with faculty and on-site partners to establish meaningful, location-specific learning opportunities for a suite of semester and J term programs
- Arrange logistics (lodging, tickets, visas, etc.) for program and participants
- Develop, manage, and reconcile program budget
- Maintain study abroad database program page, enrollments, and required paperwork
- Develop budgets and pay invoices
- Support transfer credit programs
- Provide knowledgeable and inclusive advising to students to include program selection, program characteristics/costs, financial aid/scholarships, registration/credit transfer, college policies, health and safety, and cross-cultural adjustments
- Improve Smith Center student services with an eye to equity/inclusion and efficiency/standardization of process
Perform other duties as assigned
Work Schedule
Term: Year-round
Shift: Monday-Friday 8 am-5 pm. Flexible work arrangements can be proposed and are subject to approval by HR and relevant supervisors, occasional evening or weekend hours for special events; travel up to 2% of the work schedule, which includes local (Twin Cities metro area) and national travel; overnight trips average 2 trips per year
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree; maintain a valid passport
- Experience: 2 years of experience working in international education
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Experience: 2 years of experience with study abroad/away program management; experience working with Terra Dotta
Employment in this position is conditioned upon successful completion of a background check, which may include criminal background checks, reference checks, verification of work history, verification of any required academic credentials, licenses, and/or certifications, a motor vehicle check, verification of a DOT certification, a credit check, employment eligibility verification, and/or a pre-employment physical.
