JOB OVERVIEW:
The Inspector Assistant supports the Fire Suppression System Inspector in performing inspections, testing, and maintenance on various fire suppression systems. This role involves assisting with equipment handling, documentation, and ensuring compliance with safety and maintenance procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Inspector in semiannual inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire suppression systems.
- Support recharging and hydrostatic testing of fire suppression systems under supervision.
- Handle tools, equipment, and materials needed for testing and repairs.
- Record and update inspection logs, service tickets, and reports for COR review.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and component replacements as directed by the Inspector.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety standards, including handling hazardous materials.
- Assist in emergency response situations to restore fire suppression systems within three (3) hours of notification.
- Coordinate with facility managers and government personnel for scheduled maintenance activities.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored.
- Participate in ongoing training and certification programs to enhance technical knowledge.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of experience in fire protection systems, maintenance, or mechanical work (preferred but not required).
- Strong willingness to learn and follow NFPA standards, OSHA regulations, and safety protocols.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and operate power tools.
- Good documentation and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass a government background check.
