Summary

Our Technical Writer is accountable for creating, editing, and managing high-quality technical documentation and contract responses/proposals for federal defense contracts. This role involves collaborating with subject matter experts, understanding complex technical concepts, and translating them into clear, concise, and persuasive proposals that meet the requirements of government solicitations. Our Technical Writer ensures that all proposal materials are compliant with federal regulations and effectively communicate the company’s capabilities and solutions to secure contracts.

General Qualifications

  • Strong familiarity or interest utilizing AI platforms for writing
  • Proven track record of successfully developing technical proposals for federal defense contracts.
  • Experience with proposal management software and tools.
  • Strong understanding of federal acquisition regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Education

Required: Associates degree (or higher) in English, Business, Communication or related field.

Key Deliverables

  • Proposal Development: Create comprehensive and compelling technical sections of federal defense contract proposals, ensuring alignment with RFP/RFQ requirements.
  • Content Management: Develop, organize, and maintain a library of proposal templates, boilerplate text, and standard responses to streamline the proposal creation process.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with subject matter experts, project managers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and ensure accuracy and consistency of technical content.
  • Editing and Proofreading: Review and edit proposal documents for clarity, grammar, formatting, and compliance with submission guidelines.
  • Compliance Assurance: Ensure all proposal content adheres to federal acquisition regulations (FAR) and specific solicitation requirements.
  • Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure the highest standard of proposal documentation.
  • Version Control: Manage multiple versions of proposal documents, ensuring the most current and accurate information is included in submissions.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and guidance to team members on effective technical writing practices and proposal development processes.
  • Deadline Management: Coordinate and manage proposal timelines to ensure timely submission of all required documents.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve proposal processes, templates, and content to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of AI platforms that expedite creative writing processes (ChatGPT, Claude, Notebook LM, etc.)
  • Knowledge of federal government procurement processes, including FAR and DFARS regulations.
  • Knowledge of the federal defense contracting landscape, including key agencies and their specific requirements.
  • Knowledge of technical writing principles and best practices for creating clear, concise, and persuasive documentation.
  • Knowledge of proposal development lifecycle, including RFP/RFQ analysis, compliance matrices, and proposal strategies.
  • Knowledge of defense industry standards and terminology relevant to the company's products and services.
  • Knowledge of content management systems and document collaboration tools used in proposal development.
  • Knowledge of editing and proofreading techniques to ensure high-quality documentation.
  • Knowledge of project management principles to effectively manage multiple proposal projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of security clearance requirements and handling of sensitive information within proposal documents.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, MadCap Flare).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
