What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Coordinator position at NAMI Charlotte?
The Program Coordinator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and growing assigned NAMI signature education programs and support groups offered in the Charlotte community in order to achieve NAMI Charlotte’s mission of improving the quality of life and treatment for those who suffer from mental illness and their family members. This position requires forty hours per week, less scheduled holidays and any other time off approved by the NAMI Charlotte Executive Director or designee.
1. Recruit and secure training for sufficient volunteers as leaders, teachers, facilitators, and presenters for assigned NAMI Charlotte’s signature education programs and support groups and plan for strategic growth for each area.
2. Maintain regularly scheduled support groups and education programs. Work with Executive Director and staff to plan for strategic program growth.
3. Utilize best practices and resources available through NAMI National and other state and national groups to maximize the effectiveness of NAMI’s education programs and support groups.
4. Establish and enhance written procedures and processes for assigned education and support group meetings and classes. Follow processes for consistency and efficiency.
5. Prepare monthly reports and schedule monthly meeting to review status and goals of assigned programs, support groups, and volunteer efforts with Executive Director or designee.
6. Coordinate with the Executive Director or designee in the marketing and promotion of assigned NAMI
Charlotte's signature programs and services to the community.
7. Prepare and maintain inventory of necessary materials as needed to support assigned education programs and support groups.
1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant field of study preferred.
2. Experience in developing, leading, administering, and promoting education programs and support groups related to mental health.
3. Personal passion for service to individuals and families affected by mental illness and personal or family experience with mental illness.

7. Effective oral and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
