Who We Are Looking For:
As a member of the Training and Engagement team, the Engagement Manager plays a pivotal role in advancing NAMI Chicago’s mission by raising awareness of our Helpline and other program offerings, educating community members on mental health and wellness, and fostering connections with local providers and organizations. Reporting to the Director of Training and Engagement, this role is also responsible for creating and managing partnerships with healthcare organizations such as safety net hospitals, federally qualified health centers, behavioral health clinics, private medical practices, hospital systems, and community-based healthcare settings. The Engagement Manager leads a team of specialists who deliver mental health and wellness training while building strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.

· Experience in developing and implementing engagement strategies.
· A deep understanding of the healthcare system in Chicago and Cook County
· Strong communication, public speaking and project management skills.
· Experience managing remote teams.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Engagement:
· Leads the effort to create partnerships, manage relationships, provide training, and promote the NAMI Chicago Helpline and other program offerings among healthcare providers and their communities.
· Involved in integrating and implementing processes that eliminate barriers to those in need of help, working with the Integration and Helpline teams to keep community resources updated.
· Seeks out and maintains partnerships with community providers, agencies and organizations to attain a good understanding of their operations and programs for collaboration.
· Represents the agency at public meetings, coalitions, community gatherings, and professional events to further spread the mission of NAMI Chicago.
· Plans and executes events focused on mental health education and awareness.
· Conduct training to educate and raise awareness of mental health.
· Oversee the distribution of materials and staffing for community and healthcare-focused events.
· Oversee the development and continuous improvement of engagement training on mental health awareness, resilience and vicarious trauma, faith-based training, and youth -based training.
· Partners with Program leadership to identify opportunities for new or different programming to support mental health and wellness in the community.
Management
· Provides direct day-to-day supervision and support of engagement and education specialists, providing day-to-day guidance and fostering a collaborative work environment.
· Track and report on engagement metrics, providing monthly reports on resource distribution and new partnerships, as well as insights for continuous improvement.
· Overseeing day-to-day resource update and community outreach projects.
· Ensures staff document their activities and holds them accountable for goals and expectations for their role.
· Manage department resources effectively, including tracking expenses and maintaining an organized workflow.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Strategic Development
· Participate in the development of a comprehensive engagement strategy to promote NAMI Chicago’s Helpline and other offerings in community and healthcare settings.
· Assist in the design and implementation of training programs tailored to the needs of helping professionals with focus on mental health awareness, serious mental illness, crisis intervention, de-escalation, and self-care.
· Support the integration of the Helpline into care practices, contributing ideas for policy and process improvements.
Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, community health, healthcare administration or other related fields required. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Five or more years working with diverse people impacted by mental health challenges in a community mental health agency, hospital, or other setting.
- At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or management role, with a focus on leading teams and overseeing outreach or engagement initiatives.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience in guiding and motivating a team to achieve outreach and engagement goals.
- Strong understanding of community engagement strategies, particularly within the healthcare sector. · Awareness of the unique challenges faced by healthcare providers in addressing mental health needs.
- Understanding of how to measure and evaluate the impact of engagement and training efforts with proficiency in developing and facilitating training sessions that are engaging, informative, and tailored to diverse audiences.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex mental health concepts clearly and effectively.
- Collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively with healthcare providers, team members, and external partners.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and team dynamics simultaneously.
- Capability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, fostering collaboration and support for NAMI Chicago’s mission.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with a focus on creating practical, results-oriented solutions to challenges in engagement and training.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word), CRM tools (e.g. Bloomerang), data visualization platforms (e.g. Tableau), and other software routinely used by NAMI Chicago.
Preferred but Not Required:
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Experience working with individuals living with serious mental illness
- Familiarity with healthcare and hospital systems in Chicago and Cook County.
- Experience with database management or network development in the healthcare sector.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Annual Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000/year
