NAMI Coastal Virginia Outreach Coordinator

NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is the largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the 1 in 5 people affected by mental health conditions, and for their loved ones. NAMI Coastal Virginia is the local affiliate serving the cities of Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach and the Eastern Shore. Our mission is to support, educate and advocate for mental health and wellness. We provide free support groups, mental health classes and programs.

Part-time: 25 hours per week, Monday-Friday, in person. There is potential to expand into full-time.

Overview of Position: The OutreachCoordinator will report to the Director of Programs and assist in the coordination of volunteers. Volunteers are an essential component of the affiliate. They assist with the warm phone line, support groups, classes, outreach events, community programs and presentations.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or related work experience, excellent people skills, attention to detail, familiarity with MS Word, Google Docs, Excel, Powerpoint. Canva experience or willingness to learn is a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Provide support, manage and retain current volunteers. Assist with recruitment of new volunteers
• Secure volunteers for table hosting/speaking requests, as well as other administrative tasks
• Maintain accurate records of events NAMI participates in, including the number of attendees
• Coordinate supplies needed for each volunteer opportunity
• Assist with the warm line and visitors to our office

Salary & Benefits: $24,000 annually, six paid holidays, 10 PTO days (to begin 60 days after employment begins)
