NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization. NAMI McHenry County is a local affiliate of NAMI. Our mission is to give our community a safe place to find hope and support on the journey to improve mental health.

Position Description:

The Recovery Support Manager oversees the recovery support programs at NAMI McHenry County. This includes peer support, support groups, support classes, and support events.

The Recovery Support Manager will manage the recovery support staff, who provide peer support, run support groups, and run support classes. The Recovery Support Manager will provide regular training and support for the staff, and will serve as an expert resource when issues arise. Previous experience with successfully managing staff is required. Previous experience managing peers or other individuals in recovery is desired.

The Manager should have experience working with individuals with mental health challenges, although we are open to the right candidate with other relevant management experience in human services or a related field. Personal lived experience as an individual with a mental health condition and/or family member is required. The Manager must have an understanding of peer support and either have or be willing to obtain a relevant certification (CRSS, CPRS, or similar) within one year of hire. The manager will be trained in NAMI signature programs, including support groups and classes, in order to support staff and assist with leading programs as needed.

The Recovery Support Manager should be extremely organized and have experience with program management and program implementation. Experience with building standard operating procedures and program manuals is highly desired. The manager will play a large role in building out new programs for NAMI MCH, including the Living Room (walk-in peer support for individuals in crisis) and the Drop-In Center (community center for individuals in recovery). We are seeking a manager who can collaborate with leadership to bring this vision to life.

The Manager must be passionate about ensuring quality services -- we are looking for someone who is committed to ensuring their staff uphold the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. We work within a collaborative leadership model, meaning that everyone is expected to come to the table with ideas to improve our organization. The Manager must be excited to roll up their sleeves and take initiative in creating new processes and procedures throughout the organization.
