Job Title: Staff Accountant

JOB SUMMARY: A mid-level role that provides critical support to all areas in the Finance/Accounting Department to maintain accurate financial records while adhering to company policies and financial procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Prepare routine journal entries for posting and review by Senior Accountant or Controller
2. Assist with maintaining the general ledger and trial balance preparations
3. Support with month end reconciliations and provide variances analysis when needed
4. Be a resource for payables processing, reconciling invoices with Purchase Orders, and ensure compliance with internal controls
5. Process and review regular and non-routine payments for completeness and validity
6. Review monthly accruals to ensure proper expense recognition
7. Prepare weekly labor reconciliations and journal entries for processing
8. Review incoming expense reports for accuracy and completeness
9. Help evaluate purchase requisitions for appropriate account and project coding
10. Compile Capital Expenditures requests for processing
11. Provide support for weekly cash forecasting adjustments
12. Provide and examine transaction details for monthly and annual department budgets for analysis
13. Assist with maintaining accurate system records for vendors and customers
14. Monitor all clearing accounts for variances and prepare correcting entries as necessary
15. Support internal control audit initiatives and external audit requirements
16. Support with banking reconciliations as needed
17. Assist with reviewing intercompany invoices
18. Prepare sales and use tax filings for review and ensure up-to-date certificates to associated parties
19. Serve as a back-up for other key Accounting functions
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
1. Bachelor’s Degree required
2. Minimum two years experience working in Finance/Accounting required
3. CPA preferred, not required
4. Strong Audit and GAAP knowledge preferred
5. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
6. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
7. Extremely detail oriented and results driven
8. Good organization skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
1. Must submit to and pass a drug test pursuant to Company Drug-Free Workplace Policy which includes random testing
2. Must have good vision (may be corrected)
3. Must have no known hearing loss (may be corrected)
4. Must be able to stand/walk/sit for prolonged periods of time
5. Must be able to travel
6. Must have stamina to work more than the scheduled workday when needed, including nights and weekends
7. Must be able to pick up, handle, and otherwise work paper
