Nammo Defense Systems Inc., a defense contractor, manufactures and supports shoulder-fired systems; energetic material solutions such as aircraft emergency escape systems, actuation devices, rocket motors, warheads, medium & large caliber ammunitions, mortar ammunition; and composite solutions including carbon fiber tubes and composite aero-structures.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Manufacturing Energetics Technician to join our production team in Mesa, Arizona. Position may support a 3rd shift (approximately 7:30 pm – 6 am) as-required. The Manufacturing Energetics Technician will join a cross-functional team of operators, and engineers to stage, assemble, mix, and cast propellant into rocket motors.
The responsibility of a Manufacturing Energetics Technician is to ensure that propellant, energetic devices, and finished products meet safety and quality expectations.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Setting up machinery by positioning parts, loading molds, and entering specifications into computers/controls.
• Monitoring one or more stages of the manufacturing process while equipment is running.
• Assessing the quality of products to requirements (as a certified operator) and identifying any defects.
• Troubleshooting problems that arise with machinery and making basic adjustments or submitting facility work orders.
• Regularly inspecting machinery to keep it in good working order and free of FOD.
• Following up on calibration recalls and broken or damaged tooling.
• Training and mentoring new employees.
• Completing productivity reports, detailing the number of parts or products made during each shift.
• Following health and safety rules to reduce the risk of workplace injury.
• Following strict internal protocols, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current best practices.
• Overseeing grinding, mixing, and casting operations.
• Participating in commissioning of any new equipment or process.
• Supporting engineering with review/update of work instructions including MOTs, SOPs, PFMEA, and PHAs.
• Associates degree in a technical field or high school/GED with relevant work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years direct experience with energetic manufacturing and processing.
• Prefer 8-10 years of overall experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment.
• Prefer knowledge of or certification in DOD 4145.26 Contractors Safety Manual.
• Experience with operating mechanical equipment (e.g., pumps, forklifts, mixers, hydraulics, feeder/extruders, compressors, ovens, drill press).
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Teams and Power Point.
• Working knowledge of energetic material regulations, safe handling, and measurement methods.
• Ability to read and follow blueprints and other types of engineering documentation.
• Mathematical and measurement aptitude.
• Lean manufacturing skills: ability to identify and eliminate waste in processes.
• Basic knowledge of quality concepts, i.e. ISO9000/AS9100, Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication skill, both written and verbal.
• Highly organized.
• Detailed oriented.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an ATF Processor license.
Salary : $41,600 - $52,600
