Kid's Stuff Teacher

Main tasks: You'll need to handle these tasks on your own or with basic support from leaders:
- First and foremost, keeping children safe at all times.
- Design and implement age-appropriate lessons using Frongstreet curriculum
- Design and implement faith lessons using our church curriculum
- Direct observation and engagement with children at all times. Teach, play, talk, and re-direct behavior challenges in holistic and appropriate ways.
- Effective communication with parents and other staff
- Assist with facility upkeep, room cleanliness, and occassionally support with meal prep. At times, this may involve helping remove snow on bad weather days or carrying groceries.
Candidate skill set: The best person for this role will have the following skill set:
- Minimum requirements
- Completion of high school or GED
- The ability to get on the floor and lift children
- Ability to pass an in depth background screening
- Experience with teaching children in some form (public school, daycare, in home, or in a church)
- Model faith through weekly worship attendance (here or elsewhere) and commitment to participating in a Christian community
- Willingness to support our UMC stance on faith and public life
- Career-minded and ready to serve in this role long-term
- Ability to receive a Food Handler's permit and completion of CPR/First Aid
- Preferred
- Progress toward or completion of a Bachelor's degree in education, Christian education, or a ministry related field
- Experience with teaching in a structure classroom setting
- Experience with United Methodist theology and attendance in a United Methodist Church or similar faith tradition
- Willingness to fully engage church life
Time Commitment: This position is full time Monday through Friday. You'll be assigned hours between 6:30am and 5:45pm. There will be some meetings beyond the work hours as well as some Saturday and Sunday commitments for large events.
Compensation: Teacher pay is based upon experience but begins around $15 per hour and is paid on an hourly basis. The church does not offer health or retirement, though you may secure your own on the marketplace. For parents of a preschool-aged child, a free or discounted child-care benefit be available, based on availibility and federal law.
