Position Title: Nutrition Services Production Lead

Reports to: Nutrition Services Area Supervisor

Summary

Assists with supervision of production staff to provide a safe, proper and efficient use of all kitchen equipment and food supplies. Responsible for preparing food items for meal service and maintaining cleanliness of kitchen and cafeteria. Production Lead must work closely with the Area Supervisor under the guidelines established by the State Department of Education/Child Nutrition Division. Production Lead will be required to work Summer Food assignments.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assists with the supervision and works in food preparation for all department supported USDA meal programs, including Summer Food.
  • Completes end of day reconciliation of meal service on production records and cashiering documentation according to participation in meal programs and regulations
  • Assists with daily/monthly inventory of food and non-food supplies using Inventory Software when directed to.
  • Takes inventory annually for both Nampa School District and Nutrition Services if directed to by the Director of Nutrition Services or the Department Manager.
  • Assists with the ordering of supplies when directed to by the Director of Nutrition Services or the Department Manager.
  • Oversees food and non-food supply deliveries for quality and damage, counts each item to ensure order specifications were met, order was filled correctly and quality is acceptable
  • Makes corrections on invoice while delivery personnel is on site. Returns items that are unacceptable.
  • Ensures all invoices are signed by the Supervisor, or Lead Production
  • Ensures meals are meeting tray requirements
  • Assists with supervision of staff to guarantee proper food preparation, service and cleaning techniques are used.
  • Assists with all areas of operation to ensure USDA, State Department of Education and Southwest District Health regulations and requirements are observed
  • Promotes student and staff satisfaction by merchandizing and serving meals in an attractive manner
  • Works with parents, students, teachers and administration to promote a positive environment
  • Assists with the supervision of daily cleaning and sanitizing of all kitchen equipment
  • Assists in standardized recipe development and forecasting needs.
  • Attends Nutrition Services meetings and trainings as assigned.
  • Communicate clearly and seek assistance when needed.
  • Represent the school district in a positive manner.
  • Know and follow school district policy and chain of command.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements

Education And/Or Experience

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; equivalent combination of education and nutrition service experience preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration

Valid State of Idaho Motor Vehicle driver’s license; USDA Required Professional Standards, minimum of 10 hours of continuing education/training yearly

LANGUAGE And WRITING SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students and/or employees of the district.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
