Job Description
The 909 Janitor position will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness throughout NANA’s corporate office building, including offices, public areas, kitchens, restrooms, break rooms, stairways, and other assigned areas. The role involves performing various cleaning tasks using appropriate tools, equipment, and cleaning solutions to ensure a safe and sanitary environment for all building occupants.
This is a part-time position - 4 hours/day, 5 days a week, late afternoon shift. Ideal candidates would be available for additional hours, coverage for day shift and when other department employees are out of the office or on PTO.
Responsibilities
General Cleaning & Maintenance:
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, sanitize, and restock all assigned areas, including hallways, stairways, offices, break rooms, food preparation areas, restrooms, and public spaces.
Dusting & Surface Cleaning:
- Dust and wipe both low and high surfaces, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation throughout the building.
Trash Removal:
- Collect and properly dispose of trash and recyclables, transporting them to designated disposal areas.
Equipment & Cleaning Solutions:
- Use appropriate cleaning equipment and solutions for each task while maintaining safety standards.
Stocking & Supplies:
- Restock guest supplies and amenities, including bathroom items, paper goods, and other necessary consumables.
Floor Care:
- Perform floor care duties such as scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and buffing using the proper equipment for various types of flooring.
Facility Maintenance:
- Perform minor maintenance tasks, including changing light bulbs and reporting any facility issues to management or maintenance staff.
Laundry & Linen:
- Assist with laundry or linen removal as needed.
Call-in/On-Call Support:
- Be available for call-ins or shift coverage as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Event Support:
- Provide janitorial services during events held, some may require work outside of regular business hours, ensuring cleanliness before, during, and after the event.
- Assist with event-specific set-up and cleanup as required, contributing to a clean and safe environment for guests.
PPE Usage & Safety:
- Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by job tasks.
- Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and training requirements.
Reporting & Communication:
- Report any damage, discrepancies, or safety hazards to management or the maintenance department.
Other Duties:
- Perform any additional duties related to building cleanliness or the department's success as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: At least 6 months of experience in a janitorial or cleaning role, demonstrating a working knowledge of cleaning equipment and general cleaning processes.
- Language Proficiency: Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
- Flexibility: Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and callouts as required.
- Equipment Knowledge: Ability to operate janitorial equipment (e.g., vacuums, buffers, scrubbers) safely and effectively.
- Cleaning Expertise: Knowledge of proper cleaning methods and safety protocols.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a high standard of cleanliness.
- Communication Skills: Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
- Dependability: Must be dependable, able to work independently, or as part of a team.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift and move items, and bend or kneel as needed.
- Preferred: A valid driver's license with a 3-year driving record that meets the company’s insurance requirements.

Weather Conditions: Primarily indoor environment, with occasional exposure to moderate weather conditions when working in external areas.
Noise Level: Moderate noise level typical of a busy office environment.
Pace of Work Environment: Medium-paced work environment with varying levels of activity.
Customer Interaction: Medium level of interaction with customers or building occupants.
Physical Requirements: Frequently required to walk and stand throughout the shift. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Occasionally required to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds.
