Responsibilities
- Completes inspection reports to provide the proper documentation and record findings.
- Inspecting structural components: sheaves, blocks and hooks, operating mechanisms, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical systems, hydraulic cylinders, wire rope, operational aids, and safety devices.
- Inspects and performs minor repair of the structure, mechanical, electrical, operational, and safety items to meet inspection requirements.
- Performs load tests as per requirements and document findings.
- Assures safe operating practices and procedures are being used.
- Knows and uses the correct hand and voice signals while operating cranes and hoists.
- Understands basic rigging procedures and promotes safety.
- Possess the physical ability to safely operate overhead cranes and hoists.
- Immediately reports all major concerns or findings to the Supervisor or Facility Manager in writing.
- Seeks and follows advise from company structural engineer whenever concerns outside training arrive.
- Reports all injuries or potential accidents to the company Safety Manager.
- Formally request professional guidance from the structural engineer when structural concerns are located and appear to be above the crane inspector certification knowledge and training.
- Accountable For:
- Performing inspection and load testing of cranes and hoists and completing a comprehensive report for each.
- Lock and tag-out each device that fails the annual inspection.
- Working harmoniously with fellow workers and government employees.
- Accurately track jobs, hours worked, and timecard coding for all tasks performed.
- Vehicle inspection, maintenance log, fuel and immediately reporting all damage or accidents.
- Possess three (3) years of experience to perform the duties as inspector.
- Must have and maintain a valid state driver's license, with acceptable driving record.
- Must have and maintain Crane Inspector and Operator/Rigging Certification through NCCO or equivalent agency.
- Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
- Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary licenses/IDs/certifications.
- Successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
- Responsible for completing daily work order log documenting inspections, maintenance, and repair information, to include work performed, materials used, and hours worked on each assigned work order.
- Able to safely climb extension and step ladders.
- Work overtime when required.
- Must be capable of lifting minimum of 50 pounds.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
