Position Summary
We are seeking an Assistant Teacher to support our lead teachers in the daily care and education of children ages 6 months to 5 years. This entry-level position is perfect for someone passionate about early childhood development and ready to grow in the field. The ideal candidate is proactive, flexible, and genuinely enjoys working with young children.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers with classroom activities and daily routines
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play
- Help with diapering, potty training, meals, and hygiene
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning environment
- Support positive social and emotional development
- Follow all health, safety, and licensing regulations
- Communicate professionally with staff, children, and families
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Clear Livescan fingerprint clearance for childcare
- Completed Mandated Reporter Training (AB 1207)
- Comfortable working on the floor and lifting 30 lbs
- Must be dependable, energetic, and have strong communication skills
- Must be at least 18 years old
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a licensed daycare, preschool, or working with children in other settings
- Courses in early childhood education or child development
- Bilingual skills are a plus
Schedule & Work Environment
- Variable hours increasing to full time option, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
- Active, fast-paced environment with indoor and outdoor supervision
- Some light cleaning and physical tasks required
Bonus Points
- Being bilingual in a language other than English.
- ECE Units or Degree
- Montessori, Reggio Emilia, or RIE experience or familiarity
- Musical or creative arts experience
- CPR, Preventative Health and Safety, Mandated Reported Training within the past 2 years.
