Location: Phoenix, AZ (50% Travel Required)
🕘 Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8-Hour Shift
Nanoscience Instruments is looking for a Scientific Instrumentation Service Engineer to join our team! This role offers a unique opportunity to travel across the U.S. and internationally, working with cutting-edge scientific equipment in research labs, universities, and corporate R&D facilities. Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Maintenance & Repairs – Diagnose, repair, and maintain high-value scientific instruments, ensuring optimal performance.
- On-Site & Remote Support – Assist customers via phone, email, remote connection, and in-person visits (50% travel required).
- Preventative Maintenance & Troubleshooting – Perform system checks, calibration, and diagnostics on:
- Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM)
- Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM) devices
- Electrospinning and Nanofiber Production Systems
- Customer Training & Support – Provide operational guidance to scientists and engineers.
- Collaboration with Global Teams – Work with international vendors (The Netherlands, Sweden, Finland) for training and support.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (or working toward one) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Equivalent hands-on experience with complex electronic/mechanical systems may be considered in place of a degree.
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with high vacuum technology and basic electronics is a plus.
- Troubleshooting and diagnostic experience with scientific instruments.
- Comfortable working in Windows-based software environments.
Additional Requirements:
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and work in hands-on technical environments.
- Willingness to travel 50% of the time, including occasional weekends and international training sessions.
