The Opportunity:
Nansemond-Suffolk Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Physical Education Instructor to join our Upper
School faculty. This individual will play a key role in fostering students’ physical well-being, athletic development, and
overall fitness through dynamic and engaging instruction.
What you’ll do:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive PE, strength training, and health education curriculum that
- Design and lead engaging lessons focused on physical conditioning, sports skills, and overall fitness.
- Instruct students in a variety of activities, including team sports, individual fitness programs, and strength
- Teach students the importance of proper nutrition, mental well-being, and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Emphasize character development, teamwork, and leadership through physical education.
- Foster an environment that promotes discipline, sportsmanship, and goal-setting.
- Monitor student progress and provide meaningful feedback for growth and improvement.
- Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate wellness initiatives into the broader school community.
- Uphold the values and mission of Nansemond-Suffolk Academy while serving as a positive role model.
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Health Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field
- Teaching experience at the high school level is highly desirable.
- Expertise in strength training, fitness programming, health education, and athletic development.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students of all athletic abilities.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for teaching, coaching, and mentoring young student-athletes.
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, and other relevant safety protocols is a plus.
