Quality Department Supervisor

Overview

The Quality Supervisor is the shift leader for all Quality functional areas including Age Ovens, Sample Preparation, Material Testing, Inspection, Calibration, Auditing, and Compliance. They directly lead a team of Quality Technicians.

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for all aspects of material flow through four age ovens including traceability, efficiency, and interdepartmental communication including upstream, downstream, and maintenance.
• Responsible for all aspects of sample preparation including collection, machining, and compliance to applicable ASTM standards.
• Responsible for all aspects of material testing including tensile, conductivity, hardness, and chemical.
• Responsible for all aspects of product inspection at all stages of production including dimensional and cosmetic requirements.
• Facilitates an effective calibration system by supporting plant calibrated equipment needs including tool verification and tracking.
• Participates in the plant internal audit schedule, including structured and spot audits based on plant needs.
• Supervises the Quality team on shift to support the requirements above including prioritization of work, optimization of work flow, and communication to other shifts and departments.
• Leads the Quality team on shift to manage discipline, accountability, morale, and development.
• Responsible for the safety of shift Quality personnel and 5S of Quality-owned areas.
• Performs other required tasks as assigned.

  Job Requirements

 Post-secondary education preferred;

• Minimum of 5 years of Quality-related experience;
• Minimum of 2 years of Supervisory experience;
• Aluminum experience preferred;
• Experience working within an ISO 9001 certified facility;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Highly detail-oriented;
• Strong time management and prioritization skills;
• Strong computer skills;
• Comfortable operating industrial equipment such as cranes, forklifts, saws, CNCs, etc.;
• Experience with hand tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) and other measurement equipment.
