Overview
The Yard Material Handler works with the yard team in accurate and proper processes to complete assigned Department duties timely and safely. As the Yard Material Handler, the position will also involve working outside in heat/cold, wet/humid and dry/arid conditions. This position will train on 1st shift and then transition to 2nd shift after training is completed.
Job Responsibilities
- Communicates with buyer on rejected/downgrade loads;
- Communicates with sales on material ready to ship;
- Loads, unloads, and moves material within or near plant, yard or work site using forklift or Combi lift in a safe and efficient manner;
- Loads materials into or on trucks and installs strapping, bracing or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit;
- Unloads products with forklift and take to designated areas in yard;
- Check and label product when removing from trailers
- Sets up, pulls labels and loads log/billet trailers;
- Safely operates and maintains equipment to carry out job duties to ensure a safe work environment;
- Keeps work zone clean and orderly so that the yard is a safe and clean work environment;
- Performs other required tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 1-2 years manufacturing experience; Ability to lift up to 50lbs;
- Must be willing to work any scheduled shift;
- Follows all company policies and procedures;
- Must have excellent attention to detail and be able to multi-task in time-sensitive environment;
- Must be able to constantly carry, bend, reach, climb, and stand;
- Ability to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions;
- Basic computer skills;
- Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills;
- Team player.
