The Position
Senior Mental Health Workers provide professional clinical casework counseling and treatment services to mentally and emotionally disturbed persons and provide consultation, information, and education to community groups, agencies, and individuals on human services programs. This is the advanced journey level class in the Mental Health Worker series. The position in this class performs the more difficult and complex mental health assignments on a regular and continuing basis. This position provides mental health case management services for the chronically mentally ill adults and mental health intervention requiring autonomy and independent judgement. Positions assigned to this class may also apply specialized and advanced level knowledge and abilities in the area to which assigned and may serve in a lead supervision capacity over other staff. Being bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.
This recruitment is being conducted to fill one full-time position. The list established by this recruitment may be used to fill future full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies up to one year.

POSITION REQUIREMENT
Experience and Education
To qualify for this classification, an individual must possess any combination of experience and education that would likely produce the required knowledge and abilities. A desirable combination is :
Experience :
Two years of counseling experience in a mental health program including at least one year of case management.
Education :
Equivalent to completion of four years of college with major course work in psychology, sociology, or closely related field. (Additional qualifying experience can substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis).
License or Certificate :

THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS
