Requirements / Qualifications
We would love to have you consider joining our Substitute Teacher Team. The Napa County Office of Education maintains the County-Wide substitute list for all six (6) districts in Napa County : Calistoga Joint Unified School District, Howell Mountain Elementary School District, Napa County Office of Education, Napa Valley Unified School District, Pope Valley Union School District, and St. Helena Unified School District.
Please note that each district is considered a separate employer and will pay the substitute individually. We permit our substitutes to work as little or as much as they want with no limit to the number of hours per month.

The section AB 2534 is separate from the Work History section. Although similar information may be reflected in both AB 2534 and Work History, it is mandatory that all information about any districts, county offices, charter schools, and state special schools that you are or have been employed with are listed in the AB 2534 section, and not only under Work History or vice versa. Any information, in regard to working with a school district, county office, charter school, or state special school listed on Work History, but not on the AB 2534 section will be marked as needing to be updated. Without this information, we will be unable to accept your application until the changes are made.

Any teaching credential held (valid or expired)
or Child Development permit
- If you do not currently hold a 30-Day Substitute Teacher Permit, you have two options :
- Direct Apply to the CTC - You may apply directly to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) and wait the standard 50 business days for processing.
- Courtesy Application with the County Office - Alternatively, you may work with the County Office to submit a courtesy application on your behalf, which reduces the processing time to 10 business days. This will take place once you begin the process of completed the requirements for the county-wide sublist
