The Napa Valley Transportation Authority (NVTA), based in Napa, California, is conducting a competitive and broad-based search for an experienced, service-oriented, innovative transportation professional to serve as its Executive Director. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated transportation management experience and be skilled and politically astute at guiding and facilitating the Board’s ongoing vision to advance transportation policy, planning, programs, and capital projects throughout the region.

The Executive Director oversees a total annual budget of $65 million, inclusive of operations, capital, and sales tax programs, with a staff of 17. This at-will, executive-level position involves working with staff and the Board to manage all areas of operations. The Executive Director plans and implements programs and establishes strong and appropriate relationships with the Board, its committees, staff, partners, and customers. Building relationships with other federal, state, and regional agencies and industry organizations is an important aspect of this position.
Minimum Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree and progressively responsible management or administrative experience.
- Direct or indirect experience in public transportation.
- Management of staff and budget is desired.
- Strong project management experience focusing on planning and / or transportation planning is highly desired.
- Transit-related experience is beneficial.
- A Master’s degree would be considered an added plus.
This position is highly compensated and competitive in the region. The successful candidate will be offered a multi-year employment contract with moving / relocation assistance. Additionally, NVTA offers a competitive benefits program including CalPERS retirement.
