What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dockhand position at Naples Bay Resort?
Provide exceptional customer service to marina, boat rental, hotel and public guests. Provide clear explanations on how to operate boat rentals efficiently throughout the backwaters of Naples Bay until Marco Island, as well as the Gulf of Mexico. Clean and maintain the docks to uphold to the high standards of the Marina at Naples Bay Resort. Ensure safety and security to all boat rental and marina guests. Provide our guests with an everlasting experience and obtain return business.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Boat Rentals:
Listens and responds to guest inquiries using a positive, clear speaking voice.
Answers guest’s inquiries in regards to boat rental rates, boat rental hours, safety equipment, GPS tracking devices, beach options, dockside restaurant options, local activities and events, fuel prices, charter services, Stand-Up paddleboard rentals, kayak rentals, guided tours, and bike rentals.
Takes reservations over the phone and in-person.
Enters reservations properly into the system with the customers first and last name, phone number, email address, and credit card information including: name, credit card number, expiration date, and CVV code.
Assists in safely docking boat rental guests.
Empties boat rental guests gear and equipment while safely assisting the guest’s in getting off the boats and onto the docks. Volunteers to help bring gear and equipment to the guest’s car or to the Ship Store for checkout.
Fills the boat rentals with the proper amount of rec-90 non-ethanol fuel and follows the proper safety procedures.
Details each boat with thoroughness and precision, including: bow and stern cushions, Captain’s seat and first mate’s seat, the helm, the lifejacket compartment, the bow and stern cooler compartments, the portable cooler, the storage compartments underneath the bow and stern cushions, the storage compartment with the fire extinguisher and first aid kit, underneath the floor-deck, the anchor and anchor storage compartment, all cup-holders, the Bimini poles, and the hull
Checks boat rental customers in, review the boat rental contract, fills out the check-in sheet properly, explains the boat rental chart with clarity and simplicity and writes down the tides.
Checks boat rental customers into the system and adds all the possible charges to their boat rental folio: damage waivers, drinks, snacks and apparel.
Reviews the boat rental checklist with the customers by following all the steps on the checklist and having the customer initial and sign-off on all steps.
Checks boat rental customers out, inquiring about their experience, adding their fuel and additional in-store purchases to their boat rental folio, clearly explaining the boat rental charges before charging their card or taking in cash, printing a receipt for the store as well as the customer.
Greets customers immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome. Remains calm and attentive, especially during heavy Boat Rental activities and emergency situations.
Marina:
Participates in daily dock-walks and picks up possible trash at all 97 slips before placing it in the property dumpsters. Reports unusual activity in regards to the docks, specific slips or in the basin water. Reports unusual activity in regards to slip tenants and their vessels.
Listens and responds to guest inquiries using a positive, clear speaking voice.
Answers guest inquiries in regards to long term slip rentals, transient slip rentals, fuel pricing, the fuel dock, the Naples Bay Resort, the Club at Naples Bay Resort, the Captain’s Lounge, floating and fixed docks, electricity, Marco Island, Isle of Capri, Big Marco Pass, Capri Pass, Gordon’s Pass, Naples Bay, and our Marina’s location and directions to our location via land and water.
Takes reservations over the phone and in-person. Enters reservations properly into Maestro with the customers first and last name, phone number, email address, vessel size, vessel name, vessel make/model, aspired electric pow4r, and credit card information including: name, 16 digit number, expiration date and CVV code.
Communicates with approaching Marina guest via VHF on our monitored channel, Channel 68. Properly and safely docks vessel into assigned sips. Hooks up water and electricity to the vessel. Offers to help transient guests with their luggage. Escorts them to the Ship Store for check-in.
Provides marina guests with pump-out services to their slip.
Checks transient guests into Maestro while clearly explaining the transient agreement and having the guest sign off on the agreement. Provides Captain’s Lounge Keys and Club Pool Keys, and explains the property map with precision and clarity.
Checks transient guests out of Maestro and clearly reviews the charges before assessing them to the guest’s credit card on file. Prints a receipt to be signed by the guest’s and provides a copy of the receipt for the guest’s.
Cleans and maintains a clean kitchen area, washes the floors, washes the glass windows, and frequently dust the sunglasses rack.
Stocks the beer and wine coolers, the soft beverage coolers, the ice cream coolers, and the snack racks.
Fills bags with ice, and fills the ice cooler.
Fills the marina guest’s vessels and public guest’s vessels with the proper amount of a rec-90 non ethanol fuel and follows the proper safety procedures.
Greets customers immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome. Remain calm and attentive, especially during heavy Marina activities and emergency situations.
