Naples Botanical Garden is a 170-acre world-class paradise, featuring the flora and cultures of the tropics and sub-tropics including Brazil, the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, and Florida. The Garden’s mission is to connect people and plants through display, education, conservation, and applied science. Position Summary: The Finance Manager is responsible for managing the Garden’s financial operations. This position reports to the CFO.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees all accounting operations, including:
- Preparing annual budget and quarterly reforecasts
- Developing cash flow projections, across all operating accounts and capital projects
- Completing financial analyses and ala carte assignments as needed
- Preparing monthly reports and financial statements with flux analysis and explanations
- Maintaining accounting systems
- Maintaining general ledger including preparation of monthly adjusting entries and supporting schedules
- Auditing accounts for accuracy and appropriate entries
- Processing purchases, accounts payable and cash disbursements: processing invoices; issuing checks; recording checks in general ledger and cash disbursements journal; performing month-end reconciliation procedures
- Overseeing all bank account transactions, reconciling monthly bank statements, and transferring funds
- Developing fiscal information for grant requests and grant reporting
- Developing and assisting in implementation of operating and internal control procedures
- Coordinating year-end audit by independent CPAs
- Preparing tax returns as required including income, sales, and property tax returns
Additional Responsibilities:
- Participate in Garden-wide events, exhibitions and projects as required or needed
- Performs other duties as assigned and required
- Participates in staff meetings if requested
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
- Ability to develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with other staff, constituents and the general public
- Organized, able to prioritize and manage time effectively, able to work independently
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and accurately both orally and in writing
- High level of accuracy
Qualifications:
- Degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
- At least 5 years of accounting experience
- Experience working in Non-profit organizations a plus
- Experience in financial operations, projections, analysis, and modeling
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Knowledge of Financial Edge software highly preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to use standard office equipment (copier, scanner, etc.)
- Work is primarily sedentary in nature, no special demands are required
