History at Naples Classical Academy:
Position
NCA is seeking experienced middle and high school History Teachers. The ideal candidates will have knowledge of History, strong collaboration skills, and a demonstrated commitment to using learner-centered pedagogy, an inquiry-based curriculum, and alternative assessments. The teacher should be able to teach at required grade and specific subject level, as well as possess knowledge of curriculum design and be comfortable collaborating with colleagues across teams.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Design and implement engaging and educational lesson plans that cover historical events, themes, and concepts.
Align lesson plans with state and national history standards and curriculum guidelines.
Develop instructional materials, including presentations, worksheets, and multimedia resources.
Deliver history lessons using a variety of teaching methods, such as lectures, discussions, group work, and hands-on activities.
Use primary and secondary sources, historical documents, and artifacts to enrich the learning experience.
Encourage critical thinking and analysis by prompting students to evaluate historical events and perspectives.
Create and administer assessments, including tests, quizzes, essays, and projects, to measure student understanding and progress.
Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments and assessments.
Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.
Establish and maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning.
Implement effective classroom management strategies to address behavioral issues and promote a productive learning atmosphere.
Differentiate instruction & provide support to meet the needs of diverse learners
Use engaging teaching techniques to make history relevant and interesting to students.
Incorporate current events and contemporary issues to connect historical content with students’ lives.
Encourage student participation through discussions, debates, and collaborative projects.
Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current.
Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the development of the history curriculum.
Prepare and submit necessary reports, grades, and documentation in a timely manner.
Manage classroom resources and ensure their proper use and maintenance.
Participate in school meetings
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in History or related field
