Mathematics at Naples Classical Academy:
Position Overview:
NCA is seeking experienced middle and high school Mathematics Teachers. The ideal candidates will have knowledge of mathematics, strong collaboration skills, and a demonstrated commitment to using learner-centered pedagogy, an inquiry-based curriculum, and alternative assessments. The teacher should be able to teach grade level mathematics as well as possess knowledge of mathematics curriculum design and be comfortable collaborating with colleagues across teams.
Responsibilities:
Math Teacher Responsibilities:
Planning and presenting lessons to facilitate students' understanding and application of mathematical concepts. Preparing and distributing learning material such as notes, assignments, test and quizzes. Sourcing the resources and supplies needed for lessons.
Teaching: Ability to explain area concepts (ie:equations, polynomials, and graphing)
Uphold the mission and values of NCA
Lesson planning: Create lesson plans that reflect the Hillsdale curriculum and state standards, and are appropriate for all students' abilities
Assessment: Evaluate students' academic and social growth, and their ability to meet school standards
Feedback: Provide feedback to students and parents to help them improve their understanding
Classroom management: Establish and maintain a safe learning environment, and manage student behavior
Communication: Communicate effectively with students about lessons and instructions
Collaboration: Ability to work well with others, including: teachers, parents, co-workers, deans, coaches and school administration
Other responsibilities may include:
Developing classroom materials
Organizing activities
Assigning homework and grading tests
Preparing students for exams, quizzes and tests
Creating learning projects and essays
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required- Bachelor Degree from accredited college or university (or graduating with a degree before the start of the new school year.)
Required- Knowledge of subject area
Preferred- Degree in Math or related discipline
Preferred- Possession of a Florida Educator Certification in corresponding subject area or Statement of Status of Eligibility showing eligible status in such subject area or desire to do so within 2 years of employment (NCA can provide information on obtaining the necessary cert for eligible candidates.)
Preferred- Prior Teaching Experience
Ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, push, or lift
