Job Summary:
The community dining server/wait staff Team Member is to ensure residents enjoy a delightful dining experience by providing quick, efficient and pleasant delivery of their chosen meal.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for setting and clearing tables, taking residents food and beverage orders and serving residents in a timely professional manner.
- Provide a high level of customer service and promote a restaurant style dining atmosphere.
- Work closely with the Dining Service Director and/or Executive Director to keep residents satisfied with food and dining programs.
- Set tables in accordance to Concordis standards.
- Review daily menu with residents.
- Take and deliver accurate meal orders to residents and guests.
- Remove used or soiled plates, utensils, glasses, linen from the dining room as needed.
- Ensure every plate is garnished and presentable before serving to resident’s and guests.
- Adhere to standard food safety practices.
- Wear Non-Slip shoes and other safety clothing and utilize safety tools/equipment in accordance with Concordis Safety Standards.
- Assist with preparation and execution of special events, banquets, and theme meals.
- When applicable acquaint new residents with menus, seating, and dining options and hours.
- Clean and sanitize carpet, tables, chairs, condiment containers, and equipment used in the dining room.
- Communicate resident likes and dislikes to Dining Service Director for menu planning purposes and resident satisfaction.
- Create a strong sense of team work and cooperation among all Team Members.
- Attend Pre-Meal stand up held for all dining and kitchen Team Members.
- Greet residents and guests at each table with a smile to serve beverages, cereals, and/or soups/salads. Courteously and clearly review the menu of the meal, take resident orders; serve meals and desserts.
- Return cart to kitchen and assist with storage of perishable items. If needed, deliver trays to resident rooms.
- Bus and clear dishes from tables after meal and reset for next meal following proper sanitizing procedures for tables and chairs as outlined in the Food Service Guidelines. Vacuum carpets, etc.
- Complete side work – fill sugar holders, replenish creamers, clean coffeemaker, etc.
- Report to supervisor any resident issues or concerns that may occur in the dining room.
- Follow departmental procedures including sanitation, safety, and cleaning schedules.
- Follow compliance of kitchen with State Agency and health department regulations.
- Follow proper cleaning procedures and storage of all dishes, utensils and cooking equipment.
- Assist with labeling and dating all food in refrigerator, freezer, and dry storage.
- May perform other duties as needed and/or assigned
Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Maintains neat appearance, good hygiene and appropriate attire.
- Able to resolve problems of dissatisfied customers and/or co-workers.
- Able to clearly present information through the spoken word. Can accurately communicate, providing the necessary level of detail even under stressful or demanding conditions. Ensures a positive attitude and team orientation is exhibited in verbal and non-verbal communication.
- Supports a dignified and caring atmosphere with residents, residents’ families, visitors and Team Members.
Physical Requirements:
- The Team Member is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
- The Team Member is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel and crouch.
- The Team Member must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Miscellaneous:
- Required to work weekends and holidays as assigned.
- May be required to work on shifts other than the one for which hired.
- May be required to work extended hours (up to 12 hours per day).
- Could be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents due to mental status.
- Background, criminal, and drug tests as required by HR policies and procedures.
- May be asked to submit to random drug test during employment.
- May have their picture taken and image used in social media or community advertising.
- May be video recorded from devices installed by families in residents’ apartments.
