The Expedition Guide must possess the ability to learn how to navigate a 32-foot catamaran through a primate-inhabited island system, narrating a 15-20 minute tour while offering insight into primate behavior and conservation. This person must be comfortable dealing with the general public and able to communicate in a personable way to large audiences. The guide is required to interact with individual guests as well, answering animal and nature related questions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Operate catamarans safely through a lake within the zoo while giving tours of the primate-inhabited island system.
• Assist guests in safely boarding and de-boarding boats.
• Act as a source of information for guests in relation to cruise departure times, animals and zoo activities.
• Maintains cleanliness of dock, boats and zoo facilities.
• Enforces zoo rules and regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION

Work is performed under the direction of the Park Operations Manager. Additional guidance is received through established policies and procedures, plus verbal and written communications.
