Job Summary
The Community Engagement Officer is a student worker position designed to support the institution's efforts in fostering a thriving community. This role provides an excellent opportunity for learning and growth while contributing to community-focused initiatives. The officer will assist in developing and implementing programs that enhance engagement between the institution and the broader community, while gaining valuable experience in community outreach and event planning.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
· Assist in organizing and facilitating community-based programs and events focused on relationship building, community building and civic engagement.
· Help coordinate educational activities such as workshops, seminars, and community gatherings.
· Support the creation and maintenance of community-focused student groups.
· Participate in building relationships with local community organizations and leaders.
· Gather information from community members and fellow students on needs and community interests.
· Serve as a friendly point of contact for basic community inquiries and concerns.
· Help maintain social media accounts related to community engagement initiatives.
· Assist in creating and distributing promotional materials for community events.
· Support the development of content for the institution's webpage and social media platforms.
· Assist with data entry and basic record-keeping for community engagement activities.
· Help maintain a clean and organized office space.
· Provide general office support, including answering phones, filing, and distributing mail.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Student must be awarded FEDERAL work study hours by the Financial Aid office in order to fill this position.
2. Must be a current student eligible for Federal Work Study.
3. Demonstrated interest in community engagement, diversity, and inclusion.
4. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
6. Basic computer skills and familiarity with social media platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Some experience in public speaking or event planning.
2. Interest in group dynamics and facilitation.
3. Familiarity with office procedures and basic administrative tasks.
