Job Summary: The NWC Administrative Coordinator supports the Naropa Writing Center (NWC) and first-year writing administratively and pedagogically in this professional development opportunity.
Job Duties:
• Create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of job duties following FERPA guidelines for instructors and staff.
• Attend WRI-700 classes as requested and help students schedule make-up attendance.
• Provide pedagogical support to the director as well as train and mentor the pedagogy collective in WRI-700, writing center, and classrooms through demos, written feedback, and grading support for demos and portfolios.
• Assist in hiring and interviews of future COR-110 and WRI-210 and e-course adjuncts/graduate instructors from the WRI-700 hiring pool.
• Assisting in hiring new NWC GAs.
• Review syllabi and NWC client report forms and provide feedback.
• Provide Canvas support for WRI-700 including file uploads, feedback, and readings.
• Provide Canvas support for WRI-210 and COR-110 (in-person and E) shells.
• Conducts writing center sessions during summer school hours.
Administration
• Cofacilitate GA training in-person and online including practical tools and university policies to ensure a productive, equitable, contemplative, and professional environment among staff.
• Provide administrative support to the director.
• Participate in any required university training for instructors.
• Schedule meetings and reserve rooms.
• Schedule NWC GA classroom visits and events.
• Set up writing center software each semester and schedule writing fellows.
• Act as point of contact for NWC GAs for time off requests, emergencies, etc.
• Organize and maintain the NWC’s physical and digital workspace including Canvas page, Sharepoint, and other digital spaces.
• Conduct at least one semester check-in with each NWC GA.
• Track client report forms and survey data; make changes to WCOnline forms.
• Act as point of contact for students needed extended support (work with advisors for those on academic probation, etc.)
• Write annual report using WCOnline data.
• Maintain WCOnline and address any technological concerns with users.
• Co-assign NWC GA admin tasks online and in person.
• Generate publicity, enhance public relations, and liaise with other departments.
• Oversee NWC reading, admissions events, and resource fairs with director.
• Provide Canvas support for NWC and Writing Instructor Canvas pages including feedback and administrative assignments.
• Consult in the Writing Center during summer months for summer programs.
• Coordinate and co-facilitate all staff and professional development meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Naropa Masters of Fine Arts degree or Masters degree, Masters of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing, English, or a related field.
• Minimum of one-year writing center and/or composition teaching experience. Even in a part time capacity.
• Night and weekend availability for consultant support.
• Previous administrative support experience.
• Experience with Canvas LMS.
• Ability to create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative work skills with an attention to detail.
• Organizational, leadership, multitasking, and initiative skills.
• Interest in and dedication to NWC pedagogies (constructivist, contemplative, experiential, process-based) with advanced teaching and lesson planning abilities.
• Advanced clerical, computer, WCOnline, Canvas, MS Word, and Excel skills.
• Commitment to co-create an inclusive community and actively participate in related professional development, including openness to feedback and ongoing self- examination.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with the Naropa Writing Center, Core 110/110E, online and in-person pedagogies, contemplative pedagogy, and the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics.
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
Employee is exposed to the following as part of regular duties: lift up to 15 pounds, sit, stand, handle/finger, hot/cold and interruptions/distractions.
