SUMMARY:
National Aviation Services is looking for dedicated Building Maintenance Cleaners to perform airport janitorial functions at the IND - Indianapolis Airport. A Building Maintenance Cleaner is responsible for cleaning rooms, offices, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, jet bridges, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, game rooms, and other work areas as assigned by the Station Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces and trim.
- Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, mops, dry mops and polishes floors.
- Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and draperies.
- Dusts furniture and equipment.
- Polishes metalwork.
- Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork.
- Washes windows, door panels and sills.
- Empties wastebaskets and empties and cleans ashtrays.
- Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
- Replenishes bathroom supplies.
- Replaces light bulbs.
- Clean/wipe down break room appliances.
- Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. - Must secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, if applicable
- Must fulfill FAA criminal background checks to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA), if applicable
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays as airports never close
- Work overtime on short notice in emergencies or when operationally necessary
- Applicable valid driver’s license as required by airport authority in order to operate a vehicle or equipment.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High school education or GED
- 3 years of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE ABILITY:
- Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
- Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
MATERIALS USED:
- Uses specialized cleaning solutions and materials; uses equipment such as ladders, mops, brushes, floor machine waxer/buffer, vacuum cleaner and brooms. May drive golf cart or pick van.
